The best concepts bear no results without the proper execution, and proper execution requires the proper tools. Below I have summarized a few of the applications I carry in my toolbelt. The more mundane applications have been omitted for clarity.

InDesign

As an early adopter of InDesign, I have grown with the application as it has evolved. Over time I have used a significant amount of InDesign's features but am always prepared to supplement my knowledge with new and unused features.

As the de facto standard in vector applications, Illustrator's features run deep. I have had many opportunities to explore and perfect its tools and techniques. Having used Illustrator for print projects as well as interactive, I find it well suited for both.

I have used Photoshop for both print and interactive projects. In print projects, I ensured crisp images using Photoshop to color-correct, resize, and crop images. For interactive projects, I have used Photoshop to downsize and optimize images for online use in a variety of formats.

Acrobat/Distiller

My editorial design work required a deep understanding of PDFs and how to prepare them. My processes have varied from InDesign to PostScript files to exported or distilled PDFs. Larger documents were then broken up into single-page PDFs while maintaining a strict page order.

BBEdit

Having flirted with other code editors and IDEs, I inevitably return to BBEdit. My preference has always been to hand-code sites rather than rely on WYSIWYG tools. Hand coding not only produces cleaner, tighter code, but also aids greatly in learning and troubleshooting.

Coding & Markup

Over time I have come to know several scripting and structural languages. To date I have experience with (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and XML as well as Zend Framework, Dojo Toolkit, MooTools, Prototype, WordPress, SilverStripe, Joomla, Magento, and PHPList.
